Charity Navigator, America’s largest and most-used independent evaluator of charities, has awarded the Rheumatology Research Foundation with its eighth consecutive four-star rating. The prestigious ranking is the highest possible award given out by Charity Navigator and recognizes good governance, sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.
Charity Navigator President and CEO Michael Thatcher says, “This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets the Rheumatology Research Foundation apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness.”
Charity Navigator bases a nonprofit’s ranking on several criteria, including how much is spent per dollar raised, what percentage of funds goes to programs vs. administrative and fundraising expenses, and the organization’s long-term financial health. Mr. Thatcher continues, “Only 2% of the charities we rate have received at least eight consecutive four-star evaluations, indicating that the Rheumatology Research Foundation outperforms most other charities in America.”
Philanthropy has been increasing nationwide, with predictions of steady growth in giving trends over the next year. As the nonprofit sector continues to grow, so does the demand for fiscal responsibility. Generous individuals call for dedication to the cause of their support and expect quantifiable results from their giving. Charity Navigator provides the information necessary for charitable givers to make intelligent decisions with data from more than 8,000 charities, foundations and other nonprofits nationwide.
Mary Wheatley, IOM, CAE, executive director of the Rheumatology Research Foundation, remarks, “This high rating reflects our dedication to ensuring that every donation goes directly toward research on rheumatic disease and training of rheumatology professionals.”
