It’s the time of year when people across the country reflect on the accomplishments and successes of the past 12 months and spread good fortune. The Rheumatology Research Foundation is making great strides in its efforts to ensure there are more well-trained and qualified rheumatologists working to advance patient care. A gift to the Foundation would go toward education, training and career development, while the remainder will fund targeted research and clinical trials. Support the Foundation and donate before the end of the year.
As the largest private funding source of rheumatology training and research programs in the U.S., the Foundation has committed more than $116 million to fund more than 2,300 awards and grants since it was established in 1985. This fiscal year, the Foundation has committed more than $13.2 million to fund essential research and training for rheumatologists, health professionals and researchers.
In addition, just three years into the Foundation’s five-year Journey to Cure campaign, it has raised nearly $51 million to advance patient care and accelerate discoveries. The campaign has raised 85% of its $60 million goal, with nearly two years left. This success is only possible because of the commitment of clinicians, researchers, patients and members of industry. However, the momentum must continue in order to meet the goal.
With the holidays in full swing, members of the rheumatology community are encouraged to consider giving the gift of support to the Foundation. On average, 90 cents of every dollar donated to the Foundation goes directly to essential research and training that will advance the field and improve patient outcomes. Every gift supports the Foundation in its efforts to meet the unprecedented demand for patient care today, while ensuring a pipeline of qualified rheumatology health providers for tomorrow.
