The 2010 ARHP Member-Get-a-Member Campaign is in full swing and will end on Wednesday, August 25. Now is the time for ARHP and ACR members to recruit rheumatology health professionals, enjoy some friendly competition, and aim to win a $500 airline gift certificate.
By recruiting new members to the ARHP, you ensure that the rheumatology health professionals with whom you work are fully supported by an association geared toward their specific needs. The ARHP allows members to cultivate professional relationships, build their skill set, and access valuable resources—and these are some of the reasons members excel in their field.
ARHP member Brett D. Thombs, PhD, assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at McGill University and Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, is one of the 2009 top recruiters and understands the value of his ARHP membership. “I try to get as involved as I can in the ARHP,” explains Dr. Thombs, who is on the ARHP Research Committee and the editorial board of Arthritis Care & Research. “Not surprisingly, last year, when I brought seven new trainees into the program, I encouraged all of them to join the ARHP.”
How to Get Started
There are two simple steps to recruiting ARHP members: Share the value and benefits of the ARHP and provide potential members with a printed application (available at www.rheumatology.org/membership), listing your name in the sponsor section.
What’s The Prize?
The top two recruiters—one from the ACR and one from the ARHP— will win a $500 airline gift certificate. In addition, the top recruiters will be recognized at the ACR/ARHP Annual Scientific Meeting during the ARHP Networking forum on Monday, November 8.
“A nice bonus for me was learning that I had won the $500 flight coupon as part of the Member-Get-a-Member Campaign,” explains Dr. Thombs. “In fact, my wife is going to use the coupon to accompany me to Florence, Italy, for the 1st Systemic Sclerosis World Congress.”
Additionally, should a top recruiter prefer, the ARHP will help him or her support the future of rheumatology by making a $500 donation to the ACR REF in his or her name in lieu of providing the airline gift certificate.
