Expanded poster tours: Due to attendee feedback, an afternoon poster tour time slot has been added to this year’s lineup. These tours will be unique because the tour guides will navigate and annotate the posters for attendees in the absence of the poster presenters. The ARHP has also expanded its poster tours on Tuesday and Wednesday to address topics such as quality of life, physical activity, pain, and behavioral health. Finally, to better meet the needs of attendees, each poster tour will be limited to 20 participants, and an online registration process will be introduced.

The ARHP keynote address by the real “Doc Hollywood,” Neil Shulman, MD, will kick off the ARHP program. His talk “The Real Doc Hollywood Presents … Laughter is Good Medicine,” will focus on the importance of humor in maintaining good health and combating stress and will discuss how to inject humor and create an attitude of creativity and fun in one’s life. In addition, the ARHP will conduct sessions on practical advice for the office and clinical practice, reproductive issues, rehabilitation in the biologic era, and issues related to returning military personnel.
Finally, the ARHP will offer four new workshops on joint injections (knee/ankle and shoulder/wrist) and musculoskeletal examinations (pediatric and adult). These presentations, which are part of the expanded Clinical Practice track, will focus on the clinical care of difficult rheumatologic issues. These will include treatment of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis, inflammatory myositis, and an update on central nervous system lupus, as well as current recommendations regarding immunizations for patients with rheumatic disease.
This is only a sampling of the high-quality educational sessions planned for the meeting. Don’t miss this opportunity for education, networking, and sightseeing in Atlanta. Make sure you are part of the premier rheumatology meeting.
