The Session
During the session, Mr. Smith will speak about rheumatology-specific health professional education. He will discuss the background of current rheumatology workforce challenges in the U.S. and Canada. He will describe how technologic advances have facilitated the dissemination and use of these products and will highlight educational products in the U.S., including those developed by the ACR and the ARHP. Additionally, data will be presented regarding how online educational products have affected rheumatology health professional education and assisted in meeting the evolving needs of rheumatology practices.
During the second part of the session, Mr. Chunara will discuss background on the global rheumatology workforce. His talk will address additional factors that demonstrate the need for high-quality educational endeavors for allied health professionals in rheumatology. He will also provide an overview of in-person and e-learning opportunities in Canada, Europe and beyond, as well as discuss the evaluation results and real-world application or proof-of-concepts where available.
Together, both speakers will address participants’ questions about access, costs and formats of these educational programs, as well as how they apply to the various healthcare disciplines and contribute to interprofessional models of care.
