Spread the Word
In September, Dr. Mecoli will hit the airwaves to spread the word about the pledge, the report card and other RDAM activities. NFL Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw also teamed up with the ACR to produce a national public service announcement emphasizing that it’s possible to live well with rheumatic disease and is encouraging the more than 54 million patients living with rheumatic disease to join him in taking the ACR’s pledge.
“Although rheumatic diseases affect tens of millions within the U.S., individually, a given rheumatic disease can be quite rare, and therefore few people, including policymakers, have ever heard of them,” Dr. Mecoli acknowledges. “Having a month during which patients and providers come together helps create a louder voice.”
