A very sad note for all who knew Ronald Bennett, MD, my partner of almost 30 years. Ron died way too young at 62 on July 5, 2009, after a long and valiant fight with cancer. Ron was a pioneer in rheumatology, starting practice in 1977 as a solo practitioner at a time when there were less than a handful of board-certified rheumatologists on all of Long Island. The practice he founded, Rheumatology Associates of Long Island, is now one of the largest in the country, with eight rheumatologists serving patients in Nassau and Suffolk Counties and offering the same service he offered for 32 years—compassionate, individualized, state-of-the-art care for every patient who came into the practice seeking help and relief from their suffering. Ron will be missed, and Ron will always be remembered.
