There’s a common misconception among healthcare providers that attesting to clinical quality measures through Meaningful Use means that they have automatically fulfilled their Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) reporting requirements. However, this is not the case. Meaningful Use and PQRS represent two separate CMS incentive programs with different requirements. Each program contains separate measures that must be reported individually, so you cannot report on the same measures for both programs. If you attest to Meaningful Use, you should also remember to submit PQRS Quality Measures independently.
