For the past 30 years, coders have used the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision (ICD-9) to identify and report diseases, signs, and symptoms as well as to measure morbidity and mortality in the United States. ACR Member to Chair Rheumatology Department at Cleveland Clinic

Abby Abelson, MD, has been named chair of the Department of Rheumatic and Immunologic Diseases at the Cleveland Clinic. She had served as interim chair of the department since May 2008. She also chairs the Medical and Scientific Committee of the Arthritis Foundation.
