A qualified clinical data registry (QCDR), the Rheumatology Informatics System for Effectiveness (RISE) registry was developed by the ACR to help clinicians measure how well they perform on quality measures, identify ways to improve their patient care experience, navigate reporting through the Quality Payment Program (QPP) Traditional Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) or Advancing Rheumatology Patient Care MIPS Value Pathway (MVP), and demonstrate the value of rheumatology to key influencers.
Because it’s electronic health record (EHR) enabled and free to ACR and ARP members, RISE makes it easy for rheumatology practices in the U.S. to participate.
Practices must join no later than June 30, 2023, to use RISE for 2023 MIPS or Advancing Rheumatology Patient Care MVP reporting.
Features
The dashboard—Available online, the RISE registry dashboard is easy to use to measure and track your quality performance. Quality performance for value-based care will be more imperative as the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and private payers continue to move toward value-based care reimbursement. The RISE registry offers users the opportunity to increase the value of your patient care and strategically improve outcomes. Through the dashboard, you can track your performance down to the patient level on various quality measures and see how you compare to peers nationally.
Simple, accessible design—A core feature of RISE is that it automatically collects information from integrated EHR systems. After initial steps by RISE staff and users to ensure the data flows properly, RISE handles all ongoing maintenance with feedback from the practices. RISE can collect and analyze both structured and unstructured data, so you don’t need to change your workflow to see your quality performance.
Reporting options—The registry exceeds QPP MIPS and MVP requirements. Practices have the option to report via Traditional QPP MIPS, including Quality, Promoting Interoperability and Improvement Activities; or report via the Advancing Rheumatology Patient Care MVP.
Rheumatology-specific quality measures—Participating providers can monitor and track their performances on ACR-created rheumatology-specific QCDR measures and QPP MIPS electronic clinical quality measures (eCQM/CQM). RISE’s QCDR measures are tailored for rheumatology, giving users a targeted understanding of the value of their patient care. Providers can access and track only their performance on the RISE dashboard.
In Sum
RISE personalizes the approach for each practice’s EHR system and workflow, but providers are not required to pay for and develop custom interfaces. However, some EHR systems charge the practice a fee to integrate or share patient data with the RISE team; contact your EHR system to learn more.
Full-time RISE staff offer personalized, expert support and guidance through the reporting process. RISE users also receive regular communication from staff about MIPS updates, upcoming deadlines and innovative project opportunities.
The RISE Hub, a benefit for all RISE users, contains all the information needed to use the registry successfully, including RISE news, new quality measures, how to earn Maintenance of Certification and Continuing Medical Education points and more.
