RheumPAC, the ACR’s political action committee, is dedicated to ensuring that rheumatology issues are addressed in healthcare reform. The best way to make sure the issues affecting rheumatology are being heard is to engage in the discussions and to contribute to congressional campaigns. To help with this, members of RheumPAC have attended events for the following members of Congress in 2009:
Sen. Blanche Lincoln: RheumPAC attended two events for Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) and thanked the senator for her leadership in addressing patient access to DXA scans and spoke with her about other ACR legislative priorities. Sen. Lincoln is the lead Senate sponsor of the Medicare Fracture Prevention and Osteoporosis Testing Act (H.R. 1894/S.769).
Sen. Ron Wyden: RheumPAC attended a breakfast event for Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) in Washington, D.C., and thanked the senator for his support and discussed healthcare reform. Sen. Wyden is a member of the Senate Finance Committee and a co-sponsor of the Medicare Fracture Prevention and Osteoporosis Testing Act.
Rep. Anna Eshoo: RheumPAC attended a breakfast event for Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) in Washington, D.C., and thanked the congresswoman for her support and discussed healthcare reform. Rep. Eshoo is the lead sponsor of the Arthritis Prevention, Control and Cure Act (H.R.1210/S.984) and continues to be one of the ACR’s greatest champions in Congress.
