Within Our Reach–Funded Research May Hold Key to Unlocking the CNS and Suppressing RA
Studies recently published in Arthritis & Rheumatism show that a key chemical produced by the central nervous system (CNS) decreases inflammation and suppresses production of proteins known to play a role in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This opens the way for developing a novel class of drugs that mimic this effect of the CNS on RA.

Within Our Reach Investigators’ Meeting Brings Together Junior and Senior Investigators
The Within Our Reach Investigators’ Meeting, held in San Diego in June, was an incredible gathering of researchers funded through the ACR Research and Education Foundation’s (REF’s) Within Our Reach: Finding a Cure for Rheumatoid Arthritis campaign. The focus on rheumatoid arthritis (RA) was unmistakable as investigators from around the country presented work ranging from very basic immunology to health outcomes.
